Spain’s consumer confidence indicator dropped by 5.2 points to 79.6 in October 2024, its lowest level in seven months.
Spain consumer confidence worsens in October
This decline highlights the ongoing impact of the ECB's restrictive interest rates on Spanish consumers. The fall in sentiment was especially noticeable in the current situation index (73 vs. 79.8 in August) and future expectations (86.2 vs. 89.8), both of which were weighed down by negative assessments of the country’s economic situation, household conditions, and labor market.
Monthly change
However, compared to October 2023, consumer morale in Spain improved by 2.4 percentage points, rising from 77.2.
