France’s budget deficit narrows to EUR 173.78 billion
This improvement reflects a combination of rising revenues and a slight reduction in expenditures. Total revenues increased by 5.1% year-on-year, reaching EUR 251.78 billion, driven by higher tax receipts and economic activity. Meanwhile, government expenditures fell by 0.3% to EUR 387.15 billion, indicating a cautious approach to spending amid ongoing fiscal challenges.
Additionally, the Treasury's special accounts, which track the balance of inflows and outflows related to targeted revenues and expenditures—such as receipts from local governments—recorded a shortfall of EUR 38.41 billion.
This represents a slight deterioration compared to a deficit of EUR 37.44 billion in the same period last year. The data suggests that while the overall budget situation is improving, specific areas of fiscal management still face pressures that require attention as the government aims for further stabilization and sustainable economic growth.
