China's vehicle sales jumped 7% year-on-year to 3.05 million units in October 2024, reversing a 1.7% decline in September, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
China car sales jump in October
This marked the first sales increase since May, driven by new government policies designed to stimulate the auto market, as well as local auto shows, promotional events, and the launch of new models. Sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) surged 49.6% to a record 1.43 million units, surpassing the previous high of 1.287 million units set in September.
10 months figures
For the first ten months of the year, total vehicle sales rose by 2.7% to 24.6 million units, with monthly sales increasing by 8.7%.
