Private equity deals hit record high in October

Year-to-date, there have been 355 investments, reflecting an 8.5% increase compared to 2023 and a 4% rise over 2022. These figures come from the Liuc Business School's Pem Observatory, in collaboration with Aifi and supported by Advant Nctm, Deloitte, Equita, Esw Europe, Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR, and Riello Investimenti SGR. According to Andrea Tomaschù, CEO of Riello, October's performance highlights two key points: "On one hand, it shows that private equity has adapted to ongoing crises and resumed robust investment in the real economy. On the other, the high volume of add-on transactions underscores private equity's role as a growth driver, pushing companies toward larger scale and stronger international market presence."

Majority of international investors

Notably, 56% of October's deals were conducted by international investors, a higher proportion than recent months, indicating growing interest from foreign funds in the Italian market. Buyouts accounted for 71% of the month's deals, with add-ons making up 38%. The most active sectors included industrial products and cleantech, followed by food and consumer goods.
